In our chat rooms you will meet new people, the majority with good intentions; however in the real world being cautious is highly recommended. Consequently, it's each users' responsibility to take care of their privacy. Don't endanger or risk your safety by sharing personal information with any user or stranger on the internet.

¿What to I need in order to Chat?
You need to be registered in Univision.com y be a member of our Community. To go the Chat Homepage and pick a room where you would like to Chat, enter your email and password.

¿Where do I download Java to Chat?
You need to have the latest version of Java to open the rooms and Chat. Download Jave here.

¿If I am 13 years old or younger can I participate in the Chat rooms?
No. The system only gives access to the chat room to users older than 13 years old. If you do not feel comfortable or secure using the chat rooms, do not participate, close the window and exit the chat rooms or visit the chats in the company of an adult.

¿Can I create my own chatroom?
No. At the moment our Chat system does not offer the option to create your own room.

¿How can I send a private message to another user?
To send a private message to a visitor, right-click on the visitor's name from within the User List, and select Private Chat.  You will see a new window display through which you may chat with that user privately, one-to-one. Tip: Please remember that you should never give out your personal information such as your phone number, address and other information if you do not know the user.

¿What do I do if a user sends me inappropiate privates messages?
In this case you can chose to Ignore this user to stop receiving private messages. If you consider that this user is violating the Terms of  Service in any way, don't hesitate to report the user's nickname along with an explanation of the violation to UIMChats.

¿How can I ignore private messages?
If you do not wish to receive privates message, you have the option to ignore all private messages or from one specific user. You may choose to ignore all private message requests from under the Options menu. Or, when a private chat request is initiated, you may click on the Ignore checkbox under the Action menu to block other private message requests from that user.

¿How can I ignore a user?
You can ignore any user in a room so that their chat text does not display in your own chat window, or to block their private chat requests. To ignore a user, right-click a user's name from within the User List, and select Ignore. Any ignored user will appear to be "grayed out" in the User List. To unignore a user, right-click a user's name from within the User List, and select Unignore.  You may ignore as many people as you wish.
 
¿In how many chat rooms can a user chat at a time?
You can only chat room at a time. If you want to chat in another room you need to exit and enter another room on the list.

¿How are the chat rooms divided?
The rooms are not divided, all the rooms appear on a list inside the same chat window. This makes it easier to go from one chat room to another.

¿Are the chat rooms a secure place to share my personal information?
No. Be discreet when sharing information with other users. No chat is safe because you do not know the person with whom you are chatting with nor their real intentions. We don't recommend sharing personal information like your email, name, last name, phone numbers, addresses or other confidential information with anyone on the Internet.

¿What should I do when a user is sabotaging a chat room?
You can ignore this user's messages using the ignore button. Right click on the user's name and select Ignore. This action will prevent the user's messages of appearing on your screen. The user will never know when other user's ignore them.

¿How can I see a user's profile?
Find the user on the right side then right click on the user's name and select View Profile. If the user has activated their page in Mi Página in Univision then you will be able to view their profile, photos, read their blog or invite them to be your friend.

¿How many chat rooms does Univision.com have?
80 chat rooms.

¿Where can I read and review the Univision.com Terms of Service before chatting?
You can find the Terms of Service in each chat room.

¿Where can I suggest a new chat room?
You can send your suggestions to the New chat room suggestions forum. Sending your suggestions does not guarantee that the chat room will be opened, but will give us an idea of our user's chat room preferences for the future.
