Do you ever stop to think if you are a liability or an asset as a running mate to John McCain? I think that I am an asset to the ticket because not
only my executive experience do I bring, but I also bring being a former mayor and a
small business owner and a regulator of oil and gas, and then a
governor of an energy producing state.
On Barack Obama, you said that, and I
am quoting, "Barack Obama worked with former former domestic
terrorists". Are you suggesting that... He sure did.
Are you suggesting that he is a threat to the national security of the United States? I think it is very important that American voters not
be afraid to question someone's associations that they have had in the
past.
Your son has been deployed to Irak. What has he told you over the phone about the war? He's good. You know what he has told me? He said 'Mom
I can't tell you over the phone some of the things that we see over
here' but you learn really quickly not just about your self
when you are over here and I look forward, of course, to getting to
speak with him in person after his year of deployment it's up.
Do you think that we should talk about birth control with our teenage sons and daughters? Yes. Use me as the example of why you should, even more
admittedly. My daughter, of course she is 18 years old, but has really
been forced to grow up very quickly now and starting her own family and
you know, life has changed so quickly for her. And she is a good and
responsible and a very kind hearted young strong woman, and she is going
to be just fine. But if we can use this, and if my daughter Bristol can
use her story as a kind of teaching tool for others, then so be it. Let
us do that.
An
investigation by the Alaska legislature concluded that you abused the
powers of your office as governor by pressuring subordinates to get
your former brother-in-law, a state trooper, fired. The investigation
states that it's an abuse of power. Do you agree?
An Alaska state trooper had made threats against my
family because he had gone through a divorce years ago from one of my
sisters, and this Alaska state trooper did not like our family. And
once I was elected he said I'm going to bring down the governor and you
know, he would kill members of the family.
So you think it was an ethics violation? Not at all because I did not ask the commissioner of
public safety to fire this state trooper. I never micromanaged any of
my cabinet members asking them to hire or fire anyone. In fact, the
commissioner has even stated on the record that neither I nor my
husband ever asked him to fire the state trooper.
